- We aim for plant business development, centered on our various, original products.
- We have gained 70% of the market share for large-sized dryers (STD) for use in purified terephthalic acid production facilities.
Major Products and Technologies
Steam Tube Dryer (STD)
The Steam Tube Dryer (STD) is the main type of large-sized dryer in which we specialize. This dryer is adopted in a wide industrial range, including the petrochemistry, iron and steel industry, and food industry. Tsukishima Kikai boasts of approximately 70% of the global market share, particularly in the field of production plants for purified terephthalic acid, which is a raw material of polyester fiber. The most advantageous features of the STD are its large drying capacity, wide range of applications, simple construction for ease of operation, low volume of exhaust gas, due to indirect heating. Tsukishima Kikai has ample experience of over 400 units sold in the world.

BPA Production Plant
Polycarbonate (PC) is used widely in the production of compact discs and automotive parts, and epoxy resin is used in coating, laminates, and adhesives. Demand for both PC and epoxy resin has grown steadily along with the development of industry. Tsukishima Kikai's technologies used in crystallization, dispersion and distillation carry an important role on manufacturing facilities that produce bisphenol A, a raw material used to create PC and epoxy resin. Tsukishima Kikai contributes to industrial development with its core technologies which are centered on the double propeller (DP) type crystallization having unique agitation blades.

Terminology
PTA: Purified Terephthalic Acid
A raw material used to create polyester, PTA is also used in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. Recently, the restricted supply of paraxylene (PX) has weakened the production of purified terephthalic acid. However, investments in PTA manufacturing facilities are currently being done, based on anticipation of greater demand after three years from now (2010 or later), and the mid-term demand for purified terephthalic acid is expected to continue growing primarily in China and India. (PTA is estimated to grow at a rate of 8 to 9% in 2007 through 2010.)
BPA: Bisphenol A
Approximately 70% of Bisphenol A (BPA) is used as a raw material in polycarbonate. BPA has shown high growth in correlation with an increase in demand for polycarbonate (PC) in recent years. PC is applied to the production of a wide range of everyday commodities, such as home appliances and office automation equipment. Now that its application is extending to the optical and automotive industries, the demand BPA is showing a high growth rate. The growth rate of the global demand for BPA in 2006 and 2007 was 7% worldwide and 8% in Asia. (Middle-to-long-term projections estimate a 6% growth worldwide due to market expansions in China and BRICs, and 12% in Asia)
